Application FAQ's

How many community service hours are required?
Candidates must have a minimum of 30 hoursof community service. These hours must be documented by an adult supervior by completing the National Honor Society Service Documentation Form.

What if, for some reason, I can't get a signature on my Service Documentation Form?
Your service must be documented! You are given 3 weeks to complete these forms which is enough time to contact organizations for which you have volunteered even if they are out of state. E-mail and fax machines make it possible to transfer this information efficiently. If you think you are going to have a problem with documentation, get started immediately. A certificate issued by the organization may be substituted if you absolutely cannot get the Service Documentation Form filled out by an adult supervisor.
How long should my short answers be?
The short essay questions should be answered in 250 words or less.
What if the teacher involved in my service activity has retired or is out on leave?
In that instance, leave it blank. If it is critical to your total hours, I will e-mail the teacher for confirmation.
When are the forms due and when will we know if we have been accepted?
The forms must be returned to me by Tuesday, March 6 at 3:00 pm. You will receive a determination letter in the mail during the week of March 19. For those students that are accepted, the induction ceremony is on Tuesday, April 17 at 7:30 pm.
