The Pascack Valley School District Family and Consumer Science Program provides interested students with courses that will prepare them for family life and work life. The FACS department provides them with opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors needed for:

• Becoming responsible family and community leaders
• Managing resources according to individual and family needs
• Balancing home and work lives
• Promoting the preparation of nutritious meals that lead to a healthy life
• Implementing safety procedures in the classroom and/or eventual workplace
• Using critical thinking skills creatively to address the various problems of today’s society
• Developing career goals that lead to self actualization
• Functioning effectively as providers and consumers of goods and services
• Accepting responsibility for one's actions and success in family and work life
• Strengthening the feeling of self-worth through completion of projects
• Developing specific skills that may lead to career choices in the field
